Know what I mean?
thanks for reading and for commenting :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10460197503063601577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4923885836586206729.post-83408017472519893492014-10-23T09:32:03.717-07:002014-10-23T09:32:03.717-07:00I'm Italian and I'm astonished to find in ...I'm Italian and I'm astonished to find in your story so many similarities to what happens here. Our health system is completely different from USA and our midwives, both in hospital and at home, are (I think) more similar to CNMs than to CPMs or else. We have strict guidelines on homebirth (only low risk, near the hospital etc...), which I think and hope are always respected. But, apart from these differences, half of the sentences you wrote are identical to the feelings and thoughts I've been experiencing in the last few years, since the first time I got pregnant.
One thing struck me particularly. You say: "I just had so much... I don't know... adoration for the midwives. I think that's the right word. They had an answer for me about everything birth-related and made it all sound so… easy/uncomplicated/normal/beautiful." This is EXACTLY what I feel about the homebirth midwives I know. Except that I had been reading Dr. Amy and other sources long before they started practicing in my town, so I was quite prepared not to believe to everything they say. But even then, even recognizing the flaws and the mislead in their arguments, I still feel their appeal. They do have a fascinating attitude. I'd be glad to know your opinion about this, since you seem to know so many midwives of all sorts. ;-)
I mean: isn't it quite amazing that, despite the many differences in culture, training, standards of care etc. of homebirth midwives in our two Countries, they are able to cause exactly the same feelings? Do you think it's just coincidence, or could it be perhaps something in their training, or in their phylosophy, that allows them to meet positevely a pregnant woman's expectations and needs?
PS thank you for your nice blog!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4923885836586206729.post-59071658302753925122014-01-31T16:47:26.063-08:002014-01-31T16:47:26.063-08:00I remember my midwife telling me about Pit after b...I remember my midwife telling me about Pit after birth to deliver the placenta. I was skeptical as well. However after delivering a child, a little pit to get out the placenta became totally okay for me. Just my experience when I delivered at home..
Bethnoreply@blogger.com
